The Tamale Internship / Mentorship Program
MENTORSHIP (n.) — a formal relationship between a student and a professional to further the student's knowledge, skills, or career.
Tamale's mentorship program pairs interns with core developers who guide them through their time at Tamale, helping them to fill the gaps between classroom problem sets and professional programming. Interns work directly with an assigned mentor to design new features, evolve system architecture, fix bugs, and release code.
Tamale recognizes the importance of mentors in our careers, those who inspired us to find elegant solutions to real-world problems, and instilled in us an appreciation of good design and clean implementation. Tamale’s mentorship program gives back to the computer science industry and allows our company to grow through the talents and skills of young men and women.
A Tamale mentorship promises to be one of the most satisfying professional experiences in your early career. Harness your smarts through the guidance and opportunities of the Tamale mentorship!

PERSONAL PROJECTS
After assignment to a Tamale mentor, interns define a personal project to be used in the Tamale program. With your mentor’s guidance, you will spend the first half of the internship period acquiring skills and insights in defining this project. In the second half, you will design, implement, and deliver this new functionality for the Tamale program.
Project areas include:

Building high-performance, real-time applications to manage thousands of updates per second.

Depictions for mixed quantitative and qualitative data and visual guidelines for the display.

Creation of methods for the extraction of information from unstructured and semi-structured sources.

A FULL YEAR PROGRAM
The Tamale Mentorship runs for 12 months and begins at the start of either Fall or Spring term. The position is full-time except during the academic semesters, when you will work approximately 10 hours per week while attending classes full-time.
Tamale offers mentorships at their programming facilities in Boston and San Francisco.
